What an ultrasonic welding machine really costs in India
Real price bands for ultrasonic plastic welding machines in India, what makes one machine cost four times another, why the horn and fixture are a third of the job, and the running costs nobody quotes for.
Ask three suppliers for an ultrasonic welding machine price and you will get three numbers that are nowhere near each other. That is not because someone is overcharging. It is because "ultrasonic welding machine" describes anything from a small bench unit to a servo-driven digital system, and the quotes are often for different things.
Here is what actually moves the number, using our own catalogue prices as the reference.
The price bands

Horns on their own run from around ₹3,000 for a simple disposable-mask horn up to ₹60,000 for a complex mask-line horn. Boosters, transducers and generators are quoted separately when you are repairing or upgrading a stack you already own.
What makes one machine cost four times another
Generator type — the biggest single factor
An analog generator with a timer is simple, reliable and cheap. You set a time, the machine welds for that long. If the part varies, the weld varies.
A digital generator can weld to energy, depth or power instead of just time. That means it stops when the joint is actually finished, not when the clock runs out. On a part with normal moulding variation this is the difference between 2 per cent rejects and 8 per cent. If your customer audits you, or if the part is going into something medical or automotive, you want this.
The premium is real and so is the benefit. Do the arithmetic on your reject rate before you decide it is a luxury.
Wattage
1,500 W to 4,200 W across our range. More watts means more energy available per cycle, which matters on PP, PE, filled resins and long joints. Undersizing here is the most common false economy we see — a machine that trips out on overload several times an hour costs more in lost production than the upgrade would have.
Frequency and horn size
15 kHz machines cost more than 20 kHz at the same wattage, partly because the components are larger and partly because the horn is bigger. If your part needs 15 kHz, it needs 15 kHz — see the frequency guide.
Frame and actuator
A rigid column and a well-guided slide keep the horn parallel to the part, cycle after cycle. A flimsy frame lets the horn tilt and your weld goes uneven on one side. Pneumatic actuators are standard and perfectly good. Servo actuators give you controlled approach speed and true depth control, and they cost more.
The horn and fixture
This is the part buyers forget, and it can be a third of the total job.
A simple flat horn for a round cap is inexpensive. A horn shaped to reach into a complex enclosure, with a matching nest that supports the joint line all the way round, is real design and machining work. Material matters too — titanium costs more than aluminium and lasts longer on filled resin.
If you are comparing quotes, insist that everyone quotes the machine and the tooling together. A cheap machine with the horn quoted separately later is a common way to make a number look better than it is.
Duty cycle and cooling
A machine rated for intermittent use will overheat on a line running three shifts. Continuous duty means a water or air cooled chiller and a converter specified for it. Tell your supplier the real production rate, not the optimistic one.
Running costs nobody quotes for
- Horn replacement. Budget for it, especially on glass-filled material. An aluminium horn on 30 per cent glass-filled nylon can wear in months; a coated or titanium one lasts far longer.
- Converter life. A piezo stack does not last forever. Under-torqued studs shorten it dramatically.
- Compressed air. Every cycle uses air. On a busy line this shows up on the compressor bill.
- Electricity. Less than people fear. A 3,000 W machine does not draw 3,000 W continuously — it draws that at the moment of welding, for under a second, a few times a minute. Average consumption is a fraction of the rating.
- Acoustic enclosure for a 15 kHz machine. Not strictly a running cost, but an easy one to forget at quote stage.
How to get a quote that means something
Send whoever you are asking these six things:
- Photos of the part, both halves, and the joint area.
- The resin and grade, and whether it is filled.
- Weld area dimensions across the widest point.
- Parts per shift, and how many shifts.
- Whether the joint has to be watertight or airtight.
- Whether anything fragile sits inside the part.
Any supplier who quotes without asking for at least half of that is guessing.

How much does an ultrasonic plastic welding machine cost in India?
Our own catalogue runs from about Rs 25,000 for a single-purpose unit such as an impeller welder to about Rs 3,50,000 for a 20 kHz high-power system. Mid-range analog bench machines sit around Rs 45,000 to Rs 60,000, and digital-generator or servo machines around Rs 2,00,000 to Rs 2,50,000. The horn and fixture for your specific part are quoted on top or as part of the package.
Why do two 20 kHz machines have such different prices?
Generator type is the biggest factor. An analog generator with time-based control costs a fraction of a digital generator that can weld by energy, depth or power and log every cycle. After that: wattage, frame rigidity, pneumatic versus servo actuator, whether a chiller is fitted for continuous duty, and the complexity of the horn and fixture.
Is the ultrasonic horn included in the machine price?
Not usually, because it is specific to your part. A simple flat horn may be a small addition; a complex multi-cavity horn with a matching fixture can be a third of the total job. Ask for the machine and tooling quoted as one figure so you can compare suppliers honestly.
